Heat & cooling equity

Which neighborhoods
should a city cool first?

Heat is the deadliest weather hazard on Earth, and it lands hardest on the poorest, least-shaded blocks. Cities have cooling budgets. What they don’t have is a precise way to aim them. Tree canopy is the lever this tool aims: it is the one input a city can change directly, and every neighborhood here is measured for the shade it is missing and priced for the trees it would take.
